It all depends on whom you ask and in what part of the country they grew up in. I have found that the vast majority of them, as I have found, include eggs. And a good majority have bacon.
But what surprised me was the number of pickles or sweet pickles.

- Peel the potatoes and cut them into 4 or 6 large pieces, depending on the size of the potatoes.

- Highly salt the water (2 tablespoons) and bring to a boil. Once the water boils, turn the stove over to medium heat and let the potatoes simmer for 15 minutes or until a fork comes in easily.
- Drain the potatoes and let them cool for 5 minutes or until they stop steaming.
