It all depends on whom you ask and in what part of the country they grew up in. I have found that the vast majority of them, as I have found, include eggs. And a good majority have bacon.

  4. It is preferable to leave it for about 30 minutes in the refrigerator before serving so that the flavors blend

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into 4 or 6 large pieces, depending on the size of the potatoes.
  • Place them in a large saucepan of cold water covered by at least 2 inches.
  • Highly salt the water (2 tablespoons) and bring to a boil. Once the water boils, turn the stove over to medium heat and let the potatoes simmer for 15 minutes or until a fork comes in easily.
  • Drain the potatoes and let them cool for 5 minutes or until they stop steaming.
